About the Role

The Senior Advisor Indigenous Affairs will provide strategic advice and support to improve Metro's First Peoples engagement and opportunities for participation.

This role offers a hybrid arrangement, with three days in the office and two days working from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and influence the development and delivery of Metro's Self-Determination Plan, including the convening of a Self-Determination Steering Committee
  • Manage and develop external engagement with First Nations communities and identify stakeholders to ensure that self-determination is embedded in the development and delivery of the plan
  • Lead the engagement for Metro's Indigenous Employee Network by identifying and implementing opportunities for enhancement
  • Lead and manage Metro's First Nations community partnerships by driving meaningful engagement that grows the partnerships and increases opportunities for Metro and partner organisations
  • Prepare and present information/reports to the Metro Executive team and the Department of Transport and Planning

About You

  • Previous experience in an Indigenous Affairs and community engagement and/or social procurement position
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively engage and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in project management in particular leading and implementing strategies through collaboration
  • Strong experience in managing community and stakeholder issues
