Position Overview
The Claims Consultant plays a crucial role in the proactive oversight of a portfolio of life insurance claims, adhering to TAL's claims philosophy, established procedures, policy stipulations, and compliance with the Life Insurance Code of Practice along with other legislative and regulatory mandates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complying with external regulations (e.g., Privacy and Life Insurance Code of Practice) and all pertinent legislation and industry standards.
- Ensuring all interactions with clients, advisers, and other stakeholders reflect TAL's commitment to exceptional customer service through high-quality, accurate, and compliant work.
- Contributing to departmental and organizational projects as needed.
- Collecting and analyzing relevant information to develop an effective claims strategy.
- Determining correct benefit entitlements to ensure timely payment of legitimate claims in line with policy terms and conditions.
- Collaborating with Technical Specialists, Recovery & Support Specialists, Health Services, and other internal teams.
- Organizing and participating in case conferences and peer discussions, including documentation preparation, record-keeping, and follow-up on agreed actions.
- Delivering outstanding customer service by proactively managing communication with clients regarding claim management and initiating support options when necessary.
- Managing relationships with customers and partner stakeholders (e.g., advisers, trustees, fund administrators) while monitoring service delivery and quality.
Qualifications
We seek individuals who take accountability for their actions, demonstrate perseverance, and strive for optimal outcomes for customers and partners. Teamwork is essential in finding effective solutions to challenges.
- Experience in a similar claims management position within the Financial Services or Insurance sector.
- Ability to establish rapport and empathy with clients during challenging times, with a commitment to delivering proactive, high-quality customer service.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Health, or Allied Health (preferred).
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Life Insurance, or equivalent (preferred).
