Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental Health Services

The role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist in CAMHS involves working with children and young people who are looked after and adopted within Nottinghamshire, and their families/carers.

Our service aims to provide an integrated, high-quality, multi-disciplinary county-wide service to improve the mental health of all children and young people. This is achieved through assessment and co-ordination of ongoing support, collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, and promotion of clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Co-ordination: To assess the needs of children and young people accepted into the service from social workers, adoptive parents, or referrals themselves, and coordinate ongoing support accordingly.
  • Collaboration: To work closely with the multidisciplinary team, particularly the Consultant psychiatrist, to ensure comprehensive care for children and young people.
  • Promotion of Excellence: To promote and develop clinical excellence within the team, enhancing the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people through sound evidence-based approaches and a trauma-informed approach.
Requirements:
  • Professional Qualifications: Appropriate professional registered qualification (e.g. RMN or equivalent) and membership of a registered statutory body (e.g. NMC).
  • Specialized Knowledge: Post-basic qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health or relevant experience to master's level or equivalent; qualification in teaching/supervision and mentoring of students.
  • Training: Statutory child safeguarding training or willingness to undertake prior to commencement.

This role requires balancing consultancy, assessment, and direct work with young people while undertaking NMP training. The post holder will be expected to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
