The role involves working with the public to promote responsible animal ownership and handling tasks in line with our welfare ethics.

About the Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring exceptional communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse community. The ideal candidate will have advanced animal handling techniques, be highly motivated and capable of safe capture, restraint, and transport of animals including livestock. A rotating roster for on-call duties is required.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and implement strategies to ensure customer needs are met efficiently.
  • Carry out animal seizures and impoundments in accordance with legislative requirements and Council policies.
  • Coordinate the surrender of companion animals and the impounding of livestock at designated facilities.
  • Facilitate reunions between animal owners and their pets as quickly as possible.
  • Provide education to animal owners regarding relevant legislation affecting them.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in animal management or a similar regulatory environment.
  • Prior experience handling companion animals.
  • Strong understanding of animal care and welfare issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • A current class C driver's license.
Remuneration and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary and conditions of employment in line with our Enterprise Agreement.

  • The starting salary for this role is $1,362.15 per week.
  • A 38-hour working week is guaranteed.
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight.
