Senior In-House Employment Expert

This role involves providing employment law advice to a prominent in-house legal team in Melbourne. As an experienced Employment Lawyer, you will be working closely with the Head of Industrial Relations, Legal, HR and business leaders on complex workplace matters and projects.
About this Role:
- Advise on employment law matters including employment agreements, awards, terminations, performance management and workplace investigations
- Navigate complex industrial relations issues, including union engagement and enterprise bargaining
- Draft and review workplace policies, contracts, and dispute correspondence
- Provide practical legal advice to HR and operational leaders on workforce strategy and compliance
- Assist in responding to claims or regulatory investigations (e.g. Fair Work Commission matters)
- Monitor legislative changes and provide updates to stakeholders
- Contribute to training and internal guidance materials
Key Requirements:
- Australian-qualified lawyer with 4-8 years post-admission experience
- Strong background in employment law with demonstrable industrial relations experience
- Previous experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal function
- Excellent communication and advisory skills with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial outcomes
- Comfortable working with HR, senior leaders, and external counsel
- Proactive, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting
