Employment Counsel Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Employment Counsel to join our team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role will involve providing pragmatic legal advice on employment law issues across the Asia Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on employment matters, including recruiting, hiring, compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, flexible working requests, contingent worker and contractor issues, HR policies and procedures, performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, internal investigations, redundancies, reorganizations, and employee representative bodies.
  • Draft, negotiate, and enforce employment-related agreements, templates, and forms, such as employment contracts, consulting agreements, settlement agreements, and restrictive covenants.
  • Develop and implement scalable, compliant employment policies and programs to support business growth.
  • Conduct reviews and audits of employment policies and practices to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Assist in managing employment disputes, governmental agency actions, and litigation matters.
  • Monitor changes in employment laws across the region and advise on their impact on the organization.

Requirements:

  • Ability to assess legal risks and benefits and provide clear, business-oriented advice.
  • Proactive, positive attitude, capable of handling diverse projects.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Experience creating and scaling HR processes and policies for growing businesses.
  • JD, LLB, or equivalent degree.
  • At least 4 years of legal experience with substantive employment law expertise.
  • Experience in law firms, in-house roles at multinational companies, or handling employment law in the Asia Pacific region preferred.
  • Fluent in English; additional fluency in Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean is a plus.
  • Sense of humor.
