The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Science at Florida Tech invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Biomedical Science Program. This faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in departmental service. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Science, Biology, or a closely related field is required.
Teaching interests are expected to span all areas of biomedical science, with particular emphasis on biochemistry, microbiology, basic pharmacology, and cancer biology. Candidates with teaching experience in biology core courses may also be considered if they hold an M.S. degree.
The Biomedical Science faculty engage in diverse research areas, including cell and molecular biology, genomics, biochemistry, and biotechnology. The department has recently invested in state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, including a spinning disk confocal microscope, SEM, TEM, AFM, micro-CT scanner, and resources for biomedical manufacturing and testing.
The newly constructed Gordon L. Nelson Health Sciences Building serves as the official home for the BES department, providing faculty with access to essential equipment for molecular biology techniques, including PCR, qRT-PCR, flow cytometry, cell culture, and live cell imaging.
Information about the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Science, as well as the College of Engineering and Science, can be found online. The Department has 16 faculty members representing diverse fields, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, epigenetics, bioinstrumentation, biomechanics, and health digital twins. Currently, the BES Department serves over 330 students.
Florida Tech is a national, private, not-for-profit, technological, co-educational, doctoral-granting, research-intensive university ranked Top 100 Best Value University. The university offers more than 200 associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs, as well as Ed.S. and certificate programs. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $90,000-$120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
