Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to fill a fixed-term Education and Research Assistant position in the Department of Archaeology & History at La Trobe University. The successful applicant will be employed as a Level A Doctoral Teaching Associate Lecturer (0.2 FTE) and concurrently enrolled as a PhD student at our institution.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to develop their teaching, research, and academic skills while contributing to the delivery of undergraduate subjects in the History program. The successful candidate will work closely with academic staff to design and deliver high-quality learning experiences, assist with curriculum development, and support students in their academic journeys.

Key Responsibilities
  • To contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across the history curriculum
  • To assist in the coordination of subjects and develop curriculum relevant to the discipline of history
  • To teach, mark student work, and provide guidance to students
  • To support the administrative functions of the History Program
  • To undertake scholarly work relevant to the development of learning and teaching in their discipline or professional field
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to the discipline of history
  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in teaching and curriculum development
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Capacity to use subject administrative systems effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a collaborative and collegial manner
  • Ability to engage with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Working Arrangements

This is a part-time (0.2 FTE) fixed-term position up to 3 years. You will be based at our La Trobe Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus. To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a PhD student at La Trobe University.

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $55,000 - $65,000 AUD, depending on experience and qualifications.
