We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist to contribute to the achievement of department, branch, and corporate goals relative to profit, growth, service producer and client relations.
About this Role- The primary purpose of this role is to manage portfolios, achieve business targets, rate and retention for assigned accounts.
- Design and implement effective portfolio analysis, profit and retention strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders regarding portfolio management strategy and maintenance of 'one voice' with brokers.
- Monitor/report on status of open claims for assigned accounts and make recommendations.
- Underwriting Quality and Compliance:
- Adhere to underwriting, compliance and file documentation standards and workflows.
- Evaluate and accept or decline new lines, renewals, and endorsements.
- Evaluate and recommend acceptance or declination on risks exceeding authority.
- Sales and Marketing:
- Achieve individual performance targets and develop/implement a business development strategy to prospect for new business across product lines and broker segments.
- Demonstrable ability to proactively identify and implement intelligent solutions to unique underwriting situations.
- Expertise in pricing techniques, alternative risk transfer and reserves development by individual case and by account.
- Working knowledge of key accounts and understanding of underwriting appetites.
- Judgement and experience to tailor coverage and policies as needed.
- Familiarity with products/services and ability to negotiate effectively.
