Job Title: Technical Operations Specialist

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of our IT systems, ensuring seamless performance and security. Key responsibilities include monitoring system logs, maintaining virtual machine environments, and implementing best practices for system hardening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer Windows Server virtual machines to ensure optimal performance and compliance with security requirements
  • Implement system patches, updates, and security measures in line with industry standards
  • Monitor and manage system performance metrics, including CPU usage, disk space, and logs
  • Conduct vulnerability scans using tools like Microsoft Defender to identify potential risks
  • Support and enhance event logging, SIEM tools, and log review processes to ensure effective incident response
  • Administer and troubleshoot SQL Server instances, including backup and restoration procedures
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including regular testing and scenario-based training
  • Respond to security incidents and participate in incident response efforts to minimize downtime and data loss
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in administering Windows Server within a virtualized environment
  • Strong understanding of secure system configuration and hardening best practices
  • Proficient in managing virtual machines and using VM management tools
  • Experience with vulnerability management and system monitoring tools
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server is advantageous
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills are essential
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team

Security Clearance: The selected candidate must be an Australian Citizen or hold a Baseline (or above) security clearance.
