Our Service: The Parramatta Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC) offers a unique approach to mental health support, combining peer-led recovery and clinical expertise to provide a warm, welcoming and high-quality experience including immediate mental health support for individuals requiring short-term mental health and wellbeing support.

We work closely with adults who require multidisciplinary support, collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Counsellors, D&A clinicians, Vocational staff and Peer Workers.

Job Description

This is an exciting newly created position for a passionate and experienced Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team, responsible for providing specialist mental health services to individuals accessing our centre.

You will provide high-quality, evidence-based care, including short to medium term episodes of treatment, tailored to meet the mental health needs of our clients.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing brief psychological interventions and therapeutic management for individuals and groups, in consultation with our multidisciplinary team
  2. Prescribing medications in accordance with the consumer care plan and within scope of practice
  3. Supporting family members, significant others, healthcare professionals and support staff as appropriate
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration as a Nurse Practitioner (endorsed Mental Health) with current annual practicing certificate
  • Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)
  • Certified prescriber and credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN)
  • Demonstrated clinical competence as per national competency standards for Nurse Practitioners and experience as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standard
