Job Overview

This is a senior-level position within our claims department. As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-value and complex Specialty claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex liability and professional indemnity claims with strategic impact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive resolution of high-value claims.
  • Manage end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures.
  • Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage legal complexities.
  • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required.
  • Support technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims team.
  • Develop governance frameworks and reporting for emerging risks and financial impacts.
  • Promote alignment of claims strategies across stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance (mandatory).
  • Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services (mandatory).
  • 5–10 years' experience managing complex liability or professional indemnity claims.
  • Litigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement (mandatory).
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems.
