Job Overview

The airport operations manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, secure and reliable execution of flight operations for American Airlines. This position requires exceptional leadership skills to provide direction and support to a diverse team of insourced and outsourced personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and integrate various aspects of flight operations, encompassing customer services, ramp and baggage, operations, catering, security, premium services etc.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure efficient aircraft turnaround activities.
  • Assign and delegate responsibility for specific work or functional activities, disseminating policy to supervisors.
  • Resolve operational issues escalated by supervisors and lead work groups.
  • Compile reports on operational irregularities and develop corrective action plans.
  • Manage critical situations, including response to escalations and emergencies.
  • Establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards of safety and quality, fostering continuous improvement to elevate performance and service delivery outcomes.
  • Take overall responsibility for meeting strategic goals in operational performance and cost control.
  • Negotiate with contractors, suppliers and airport authorities on behalf of American Airlines.
  • Address daily operational issues and negative performance with relevant teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stations to achieve efficiency.
  • Develop and build team engagement and capability to improve team performance.
