Commercial Manager Opportunity

A high-profile professional services firm seeks a commercially astute and strategically minded individual to drive profitability, productivity, and growth for key practice groups. This role is based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.

This is a true business partnering role where you will work side-by-side with partners providing best practice commercial and financial advice that shapes decisions and drives performance. With no direct reports to manage, your focus will be on delivering insight, influencing outcomes, and helping our partners succeed.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maximise Realisation: Monitor WIP proactively manage projects/matters minimise write-downs and provide commercial insights that drive stronger financial outcomes.
  • Shape Pricing Strategies: Advise the Pricing Committee on tender submissions, profitability analysis, and commercial risk. Champion smarter project scoping LPM and post-tender review to improve future performance.
  • Unlock Growth: Partner with Business Development to identify new client opportunities through market analysis, client research, and cross-practice collaboration.
  • Boost Productivity: Work with People & Performance and Finance to optimise resourcing, talent mapping, and utilisation across teams. Oversee promotions processes and recruitment approvals.
  • Upskill the Business: Deliver training to lift commercial acumen across the legal teams.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5-7+ years' experience in a commercial or finance role ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, or related field and a CPA/CA.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex financial and operational data and turn it into actionable advice.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills to influence and challenge the partnership constructively.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to balance strategic vision and operational detail.
