You will be responsible for providing a combination of commercial, legal, financial, risk, and contractual expertise to Service Stream's Utilities Division (from pre-contracts through to project delivery and closeout).
Nature of position: Permanent, Full TimeLocation: Melbourne, VIC / Brisbane, QLDReporting Line: Head of Commercial – UtilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesThe role is charged with supporting the maximisation of financial return (in the form of EBITDA) for the Utilities Division, by ensuring that projects are executed in accordance with Service Stream's governance and risk management frameworks.Pre-Contract AwardProvide commercial input to the assessment and development of new business pursuit strategiesReview contractual instruments and apply Service Stream's risk profile to evaluate opportunity suitabilityCoordinate and lead opportunity and risk assessmentsModel and analysis commercial frameworks, applying sensitivity analysis to forecast contractual performanceIdentify risk mitigation strategies and develop opportunity capitalisation plansPrepare commercial tender responsesParticipate in the governance and assurance review processLead commercial negotiations and collaborate with legal teams to finalise contractual instrumentsPost Contract AwardProvide commercial input into rights and obligations handover to project delivery teamsFacilitate structured handover of contract, subcontracts and project control tools to project delivery teamsSupport contract risk control and assurance activities through commercial reporting and audit reviewsLead margin and contract performance reviewsRespond to project team escalations concerning contract interpretation or commercial performance queriesSupport contractual dispute process escalationsSupport management of contractual disputes including interfacing with internal and external legal counselGovernanceChampion implementation of structured commercial management practices across the Utilities DivisionSupport embedment of Service Stream project controls, risk management, and compliance frameworksRespond to queries pertaining to delegated authorities, procurement, and contract interpretationCollate and manage commercial reporting data and analysisAbout YouTertiary qualification in law and business/commerceMinimum 3-years' experience in a similar roleKnowledge of and direct exposure to tier one contractor risk and governance frameworksDirect exposure to broad contracting models and model contract termsUtilities and power generation sector knowledgePreparation of executive and board level reports, briefs and memorandums of adviceAutonomous contract review and risk assessmentDrafting and interpretation of contractual terms, and associated contractual correspondence and noticesConstruction project financial modelling, analysis and reportingContractual claims analysis and managementPreparation of discovery dossiers and legal briefAbout UsService Stream is an equal opportunity ASX-listed business that develops and operates Australia's essential services networks across telecommunications, utilities, transport, defence, and social infrastructure industries.
