About this Role

This is a unique opportunity to create, transform and redefine a contemporary and positive residential offering for colleagues.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Colleague Village at InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef.

This position offers the chance to drive initiatives that attract and engage talent, deliver cost savings through turnover reduction and increased revenue generation, and provide a lifestyle and environment that's balanced and comfortable with an active and engaged community.

Key responsibilities include providing exceptional service, professional attention, and personal recognition to all colleagues, inspiring and motivating the team to provide a unique experience, and collaborating with department managers to maintain high service standards and drive continuous improvement.

The role also involves engaging with colleagues upon arrival, addressing complaints, seeking feedback, and building relationships to enhance overall satisfaction, as well as regular inspections of accommodations and public areas to identify and resolve any deficiencies promptly.

Effective team management is key, requiring the ability to plan staffing needs, assign work, set performance and development goals, provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback, educate staff on compliance with laws and safety regulations, and ensure they have the right tools and training.

Fostering a culture of teamwork and maintaining clear communication about the hotel's successes will help keep the team motivated.

SIGNIFICANT OPERATIONS EXPERIENCE IN A LEADERSHIP ROLE ACROSS VARIOUS FUNCTIONS IS HIGHLY VALUABLE.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Hotel Management or Business Administration, as well as demonstrated experience in leading a multi-cultural and diverse team.

Significant operations experience in a leadership role across various functions— including Front Office/Reception, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Culinary, and Activities—is highly valuable.

An understanding of remote living considerations will be highly beneficial in ensuring a smooth and effective operation.
