About This Role
  • The team is responsible for integrating distributed energy resources into our operational and technical functions. This includes analysing behaviours, developing suitable power system models, applying these models to determine impact on security, and implementing management measures.

Our goal is to securely operate the power system with up to 100% renewable distributed resources. We are passionate about our work, and seeking a collaborative individual to join us.

This role can be based in various locations across Australia. An 18-month fixed term contract applies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to development of a work program to improve tools for managing low demand / high DER periods.
  • Use Python programming skills to develop control room visualisation interfaces and collaborate with teams to identify priority areas for further uplift of systems required to operate the power system of the future.
  • Collaborate with AEMO teams and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Python programming skills, preferably using test-driven development & object-oriented programming with applications in a technical domain.
  • Quantitative analysis skills, including problem solving, modelling, and critical thinking.
  • Experience running dynamic power system studies in PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory or similar platforms.
  • Tertiary qualification in software or electrical engineering or similar, with a power system focus and experience in software development, power system analysis, or a related field.
