Future Energy Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Future Energy Engineer to join our team. As a senior member of our engineering group, you will play a key role in shaping the future of energy.

About the Role

This is a 12-month contract opportunity in our DER and Engineering team. You will contribute to Distributed Energy Resource (DER) solutions and renewable energy projects. Your expertise will help us drive innovation and excellence in the energy sector.

Responsibilities
  • Represent us in national working groups focused on standardising DER communications protocols.
  • Develop internal standards and procedures for managing aggregated DER fleets effectively and safely.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on DER connection processes, technical rules, and market regulations to support the implementation of DER aggregation services.
  • Provide specialist engineering advice across the DER and renewable asset lifecycle to inform strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and internal cross-functional teams to integrate DER into the electricity network seamlessly.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical/Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of six years' hands-on experience in an engineering role, ideally within the energy or utilities sector.
  • A strong understanding of control systems and the electricity grid, including DER integration.
  • Familiarity with DER communications protocols, preferably IEEE 2030.5/CSIP-Aus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies.
