Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Artisan to join our team at Harry's Bistro and Bar in Bowral NSW. As a Pastry Artisan, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a wide variety of pastries, cakes, tarts, and bread, following specific recipes and client preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake a wide variety of pastries, cakes, tarts, and bread: You will be responsible for preparing and baking a wide variety of pastries, cakes, tarts, and bread, following specific recipes and client preferences.
  • Design and decorate desserts and pastries: You will design and decorate desserts and pastries to meet high presentation standards at Harry's Bistro and Bar and Plantation Cafe.
  • Monitor and maintain ingredient inventory: You will monitor and maintain ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and availability for daily production.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff: You will collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of desserts during peak service hours.
  • Innovate and create new pastry recipes: You will innovate and create new pastry recipes that align with the bistro's culinary vision and seasonal menu changes.
  • Ensure all baking equipment and workspaces are clean: You will ensure all baking equipment and workspaces are clean and meet health and safety regulations.
  • Manage portion sizes and minimize waste: You will manage portion sizes and minimize waste while maintaining quality standards.
  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff: You will assist in training junior kitchen staff on pastry techniques and proper kitchen practices.
  • Adapt recipes and techniques to accommodate dietary restrictions: You will adapt recipes and techniques to accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests from customers.
  • Coordinate with the head chef: You will coordinate with the head chef to plan dessert menus for special events and daily offerings.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' working experience: You must have at least 2 years' working experience in a similar role.
  • Relevant qualification: You must have a relevant qualification in baking or pastry arts.
  • Attention to detail and creativity: You must have attention to detail and creativity in designing and decorating desserts and pastries.
  • In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles: You must have in-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and baking techniques.

Salary: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $70,000 - $78,000 + Superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
