About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Supervisor - Environment/Generalist to join our team at DNEG. As a key member of our VFX build department, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and supervision to our team of artists and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement technical strategies to enable the department to create high-quality work on time, on budget, and in a sustainable way.
  • Collaborate with Heads of Departments, CG Build Supervisors, Production Technology, Workflow Architects, and other departments to develop and support consistent cross-department workflows and processes.
  • Design and develop standardized department workflows, tools, and processes for different types of work.
  • Provide technical leadership, support, and feedback to Department Supervisors and Artists.
  • Manage tool development in a production-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive high-end feature film VFX experience.
  • Proven technical knowledge of all aspects of the VFX pipeline.
  • Broad range of build-discipline knowledge with experience in modeling, texturing, and look development.
  • Extensive experience using 3D software, including Maya, Houdini, Mari, ZBrush, Nuke, and Substance Designer/Painter.
  • Extensive experience with rendering in Clarisse and Renderman.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the natural world (geology, geography, and meteorology) and architecture (design and engineering).
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people, including third-party suppliers.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience demonstrating and documenting tools and methods.
  • Experience in real-time applications, such as Unreal.
  • Experience with procedural city generation and scattering tools.
