Alcohol and Other Drug Counsellor Opportunity

Based in Ceduna and surrounding areas, this is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires the skills to support individuals to address harmful alcohol and other drug use.

About the Role

\

This position involves providing both individual and group support to help clients reduce harms associated with alcohol and other drug use. You will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments and providing evidence-based counselling interventions to assist clients in addressing harmful behaviors.

\

Working in partnership with individuals, you will also support them to build the skills and resilience needed to manage challenges related to alcohol and other drug use, while fostering recovery and encouraging positive life changes.

\

Requirements

\

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

\
  • \
  • A Certificate IV or higher in Alcohol and Other Drugs or equivalent\
  • A current driver's license\
  • Demonstrated experience in counseling using a range of intervention techniques\
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches for supporting individuals with substance abuse issues\
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and written skills\
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people\
  • Capacity to build networks, work independently and in teams, and apply initiative with strong problem-solving skills\
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History Record Check and any relevant state-based checks\
