About the Role

We are seeking an experienced counsellor to provide substance abuse services to individuals in detention through assessment, case management, referral services and therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver drug & alcohol services to persons in detention
  • Provide individual drug and alcohol related counselling
  • Facilitate SMART recovery group sessions on a diverse range of topics
  • Support the site in provision of D&A services

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, social welfare, education, social sciences or other related disciplines
  • Proven clinical drug and alcohol experience including providing assessment and counselling services to people with drug and alcohol problems
  • Ability to provide clinical coordination and counselling management of people with co-morbid substance use disorders and mental health problems
  • Accreditation as a SMART Recovery facilitator or willing to obtain
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid Certificate
  • Valid and full working rights in Australia
