We are seeking a highly skilled Hotel Operations Manager to lead the team at YHA Newcastle Beach. This role is perfect for a motivated and experienced professional who enjoys being involved in all aspects of hotel operation and has a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

YHA Newcastle Beach is a vibrant and welcoming property located in the heart of Newcastle, just steps away from some of Australia's best surf beaches and the bustling foreshore. Our heritage listed property offers a range of private and co-living rooms with shared bathrooms and features facilities such as a spacious self-catering kitchen, cozy guest lounge, and convenient proximity to public transport, cafes, and local attractions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Guide and inspire the team, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence. Handle recruitment, training, and professional development to ensure high performance.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure exceptional experiences by maintaining cleanliness, safety, and service standards, providing guests with memorable local experiences.
  • Business Management: Develop annual business plans and budgets to support business growth, including cost control and financial reporting.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Uphold YHA's national standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the Customer team on marketing strategies, including social media and partnerships with local businesses and tour operators.
Requirements
  • A self-motivated, hands-on approach with the willingness to manage all aspects of a hotel operation.
  • Knowledge of Property Management Systems and strong computer literacy.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a hospitality or accommodation leadership role.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and customer service skills.
  • Financial management experience, with a focus on budget management.
  • Strong problem-solving, change-management, and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of Newcastle's tourism market and competition.
  • Ability to create work/life balance when living on-site.
Salary

$70,000 - $80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
