About the Role

This Pre-Contracts Manager position is an exciting opportunity to join a national contracting organization that is expanding its presence in Australia. The company is a leading player in the water treatment, remediation, and contaminated land sectors, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide commercial input into bid strategies to ensure the company's success in tendering and bidding for water and civil utility infrastructure projects.
  2. Focus on the bidding and tendering process, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to secure new projects.
  3. Report directly to the Managing Director, with a functional reporting line to the General Manager.
  4. Complete commercial and contractual qualification schedules to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  5. Develop winning bid strategies, bid preparation, bid management, and ongoing design management support through project delivery.
  6. Oversee tendering resources to ensure full utilization and maximize the company's chances of winning new projects.
  7. Provide commercial oversight of bids to ensure they meet the required risk profile of the business.
  8. Complete tender peer reviews to ensure that all bids are thoroughly evaluated and meet the company's standards.
  9. Support ongoing profitable growth by winning new programs and projects and supporting the profitable delivery of projects won.
  10. Provide lead guidance and coordination of the negotiation and finalisation of contract terms and conditions, consistent with the bid risk profile.
  11. Conduct margin, KPI, and contract performance reviews and client relationship reviews to ensure that the company is meeting its contractual obligations.
  12. Assist with any contract disputes that may arise during the project delivery phase.

Requirements

  1. 10+ years of experience in the management of tenders/bids for civil infrastructure projects.
  2. Previous project commercial/contract administration experience onsite.
  3. Solid risk management experience with the ability to assist in evaluating identified risks/opportunities and development of agreed strategies and management plans to mitigate risk.
  4. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
