Civil Dispute Resolutions Specialist

This role involves presiding over minor civil disputes where the claim amount does not exceed $25,000. As an Adjudicator, you will hear and determine matters related to residential tenancy disputes, consumer-trader disputes, and property damage caused by a vehicle.
Key Responsibilities- Hear multiple matters daily, including up to 10 residential tenancy related matters in a morning and up to 3 other minor civil dispute matters in an afternoon.
- Deliver oral reasons at the conclusion of the hearing in most cases, although some decisions may be reserved for the giving of a published decision.
- Prepare for and conduct hearings within time limits, ranging from 15 minutes for urgent tenancy matters up to 1 hour for other minor civil disputes matters.
- Possession of a 'C Class' driver's licence is essential.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with tribunal procedures and laws.
- Adjudicators are based in Brisbane but required to travel throughout South-East Queensland.
- Hearings may be conducted by telephone and video conferencing where suitable.
