Job Title: Payroll Operations Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Payroll Operations Specialist to join our team in Sydney to manage and run payroll across Australia.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with local tax and labour laws, optimize payroll systems and processes, and partner with HR and Finance to support business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations across all Australian sites
  • Acting as the main escalation point for complex queries
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline systems and payroll procedures for scalability as the business grows
  • Maintaining exemplary standards in data quality, audit readiness, and adherence to Australian payroll legislation and GDPR requirements
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders on reconciliations, audits, and payroll-related compliance across departments
  • Guiding leaders on payroll practices, legal obligations, and system usage while contributing regular reports and dashboard insights

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing payroll, with strong understanding of Australian payroll laws and hands-on expertise in HRIS systems (ideally Workday)
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and improve processes
  • Experience overseeing payroll across the APAC region—ideally including Japan, Singapore, and/or China
