We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research project focusing on the physiological response of almond varieties to orchard management practices.

The successful candidate will investigate the factors contributing to leafing failure and develop strategies to mitigate this issue, ensuring sustainable farming systems for individual almond varieties.

This project aims to establish best management practices through collaboration with growers, promoting a healthy river system and supporting plant physiological measurements.

Key outcomes of this project will include identifying contributing factors to leafing failure and advising on sustainable farming systems, supported by data from plant physiological measurements.

Candidates with relevant qualifications and experience in agricultural science, environmental science, plant physiology, or horticulture will be considered for this position.

Main Objectives:

  • To investigate the physiological response of almond varieties to different orchard management practices.
  • To identify contributing factors to leafing failure and develop strategies to mitigate this issue.
  • To establish best management practices for individual almond varieties, promoting sustainable agriculture and a healthy river system.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Plant Physiology, or Horticulture.
  • Relevant experience in agricultural research or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with plant physiological measurements and data analysis software.
