PhD Opportunity in Sustainable Almond Production

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research project on sustainable almond production. The aim of this project is to investigate the physiological response of almond varieties to different orchard management practices.

About the Project

This project focuses on determining the varietal water and nutrient requirements in almond trees, optimizing plant functioning, and mitigating stress responses such as leafing failure. The successful candidate will work closely with growers to establish best management practices for individual almond varieties.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct plant physiological measurements, including carbohydrate levels as an indicator of plant function.
  • Work with growers to develop and implement optimized orchard management practices.
Requirements
  • Masters or honours degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Plant Physiology, or Horticulture.
  • Equivalent research or work experience.
