Research Scientist: Optimizing Almond Varieties

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to contribute to our research project focused on determining the physiological response of almond varieties to orchard management practices.
- This project aims to identify the contributing factors to leafing failure and develop approaches to mitigate this response for various almond varieties, including Monterey.
The successful candidate will work closely with growers to establish best management practices in the management of individual almond varieties, promoting sustainable farming systems and a healthy river system.
Key Objectives:
- To determine the varietal water and nutrient requirements in almond trees in the Murray-Darling Basin
- To develop strategies to optimise plant functioning and mitigate stress responses such as leafing failure
Requirements:
- Masters or honours degrees in agricultural science, environmental science, plant physiology, or horticulture
- Equivalent research or work experience in a relevant field
Benefits:
