Lead Creature FX TD Opportunity

Framestore is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Creature FX TD to join our Melbourne studio.

The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for setting up and maintaining complex simulations for hero and secondary characters and creatures. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of Creature FX TDs to achieve high-quality results
  • Provide expert feedback and troubleshooting on simulations
  • Develop and maintain simulation rigs and setups, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness
  • Design and implement tools to streamline simulation processes
  • Run simulations, perform technical animation, and shot sculpting for production shots
  • Creatively troubleshoot and solve complex problems independently
  • Collaborate with supervisors and leads to receive and address technical and creative feedback
  • Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to meet deadlines and maintain high standards
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Senior or Lead level experience as a Creature FX TD
  • High proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya and/or Houdini
  • Good knowledge of nCloth, nHair, and/or Vellum
  • Excellent understanding of physically based motion and animation principles
  • Ability to communicate complex topics effectively to CFX and connected departments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask
  • Working knowledge of Python (and/or Mel)
  • 5 years of experience in film/animation/VFX

Desirable skills include experience with Ziva Dynamics, Houdini, Marvelous Designer, rigging, and Linux.
