Framestore is a global creative company that excels in film, advertising, AR/MR/VR, and theme park dark rides.

We are seeking a skilled Groom Artist to create high-quality hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures in our VFX film projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement hair/fur/feather grooms for characters and creatures using our proprietary grooming tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Creature FX simulation TDs to ensure dynamic requirements and guide hair layouts are met.
  • Liaise with other departments, including Modelling, Rigging, Animation, and Lighting, to ensure seamless creature workflow.
  • Produce render tests to showcase the groom's progress.
  • Meet project schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Communicate regularly with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working on CG creature projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Maya.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and aesthetic awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of pipeline and workflow issues.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux systems environment.
  • Knowledge of dynamic hair simulation or other forms of dynamics.
