An Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker is a vital role in supporting the well-being and safety of children and families.
Job DescriptionThis position involves working sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people to address their needs and provide assistance through home visits. The caseworker will work collaboratively with other agencies and engage in complex problem-solving to ensure the best possible outcomes for the individuals and families involved.
The caseworker will be responsible for developing safety plans and completing risk assessments to identify potential risks and threats to the safety and well-being of the children. They will also manage cases and situations, including working with high-needs and high-risk clients and their families.
As an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. You will work closely with other professionals, including social workers, police officers, and medical professionals, to ensure that children receive the support they need to thrive.
You will also be responsible for participating in individual and group supervision, as well as attending court proceedings when necessary. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to making a positive impact in their community.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to build positive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. A relevant diploma or degree qualification is preferred, but applicants without a relevant qualification may be considered if they have at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
Documented verification of Aboriginality is required, confirming that you are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent and that you identify as being Aboriginal. This is a genuine occupational requirement under the exception in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
