Windermere Child and Family Services is a leading community organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by family violence. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Victim Support Worker - Family Violence Practitioner to join our team.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of victims of family violence. As a Victim Support Worker - Family Violence Practitioner, you will provide tailored support to victims, empowering them to navigate the justice system and access essential services. Your expertise will be instrumental in building the capacity of our Victims Assistance Program and engaging with the community to promote recovery and minimize secondary victimization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support to victims of family violence, including information, advice, and referrals to specialist services.
- Assist victims in navigating the justice system and accessing essential services.
- Build the capacity of our Victims Assistance Program through community engagement and education activities.
- Collaborate with other victim services, including Family Violence and Sexual Assault Services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive support network for victims.
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare, or a relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the community sector, preferably in a trauma-related field.
- Case management, intake, and assessment experience, with a focus on family violence.
- Risk identification and management capability, including experience with the MARAM framework.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide tailored support to victims from diverse backgrounds and communities.
