Research Scientist

We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at RMIT University's School of Computing Technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to a number of projects within the ARC Centre of Excellence, with a particular focus on measuring, modelling, and evaluating the fairness, bias, search algorithms and the information retrieved and generated by them.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be based in the School of Computing Technologies and the Centre for Information Discovery and Data Analytics at RMIT University, and will collaborate actively with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society's national and international network of participants.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the development of new methods, software, and tools in the area of interactive systems, machine learning, and data mining.
- Design and conduct user studies to evaluate the effectiveness of information access systems.
- Develop and maintain public codebases and repositories.
- Perform experiments using multiple large-scale datasets and public benchmarks.
- Establish and maintain machine learning and deep learning pipelines.
- PhD in Computer Science or a relevant discipline area within the past 5 years.
- Strong experience in interactive systems, machine learning, deep learning, or data mining.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and/or using state-of-the-art methods, software, and tools.
- Solid experience in conducting experiments and maintaining public codebases.
- Scholarly writing skills and experience in preparing publications for a variety of audiences.
- Strong interest in the technical and societal problems related to Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics (FATE) in AI.
