About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Occupational Health and Safety to lead our organization-wide approach to health and safety, workers compensation, and return to work initiatives. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive safety strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of a robust health and safety management system that ensures compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to senior leaders and employees across the organization.
  • Oversee the management of workers compensation and return to work programs, ensuring that they are effective and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.
  • Develop and implement training programs to promote a strong safety culture and ensure that employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address emerging safety risks and hazards.
  • Lead a team of direct and indirect reports to achieve organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in risk management, compliance, or a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in health and safety leadership, including experience in developing and implementing safety strategies.
  • Experience in workers compensation and return to work programs.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop and lead a multi-discipline team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
