Job Description

Company Overview: ESE Recruitment is a trusted supplier of high-quality recruitment services for over 10 years. We are seeking a strategic second-in-command (2 IC) who will eventually step into the General Manager role as the current owner plans to transition out of the day-to-day operations.

Role Objective: The General Manager / 2 IC will work closely with the owner to lead the company's sales and operational growth while ensuring the business remains profitable and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outcome-Driven Leadership: Prioritize delivering results such as increased sales and profitability over rigid adherence to processes.
  • Focus on Generating Revenue: Expand the client base and achieve business growth in tangible ways.
  • Strategic Growth: Collaborate with the owner to implement growth strategies in the recruitment industry.
  • Sales & Business Development: Play a central role in growing sales, particularly in the recruitment sector.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee daily business operations, ensuring they run efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Hands-On Management: Be a thinker and a doer, actively involved in the daily functions of the business.
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong, hands-on leadership, fostering a company culture that aligns with the business's values of humility, commitment, and genuine care for its success.
  • Client Relationship Management: Focus on growing the company's client base in the recruitment industry, while maintaining excellent relationships with key customers.
  • Cultural Fit: Integrate seamlessly into the company's culture, built on trust and long-term relationships, while introducing fresh ideas for growth and improvement.

Key Attributes & Skills:

  • Sales and Business Development: Must have a strong track record in sales and business development, with the ability to grow a small yet profitable business through real, tangible results.
  • Outcome-Oriented: Must demonstrate a strong focus on delivering measurable results (sales and profitability) rather than focusing on maintaining processes for the sake of it.
  • Strategic Thinker and Doer: Needs to be both a forward-thinking strategist and hands-on executor, willing to take ownership of challenges and lead from the front.
  • Long-Term Vision: The ideal candidate will be committed to a long-term role, with the goal of taking over as General Manager, allowing the current owner to step back over time.
  • Experience with Smaller Businesses: Ideally, the candidate will come from a smaller business background or have experience in a family-owned business environment, with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get involved at all levels.
