HDR is seeking a seasoned Dam Safety Engineer/Subject Matter Expert to join our thriving Hydropower Practice. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting inspections and engineering assessments of existing dams and water retaining structures. Your expertise in analysis, evaluation, and design will be instrumental in developing innovative solutions for our clients.
About the Role
In this challenging and rewarding position, you will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. You will be responsible for conducting site visits, analyzing data, and preparing reports and designs. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of best practices in the field.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Geological, or Geotechnical engineering (or a related field). A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical, geological, civil/structural, hydrology and hydraulics, or mechanical engineering is required. Experience working in a multi-discipline environment and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Auto CAD, and/or Micro Station are also essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as self-motivation and the ability to work independently, are highly valued. Preferred qualifications include experience with dams, water conveyances, or other constructed project works and infrastructure associated with hydropower and pumped-storage projects regulated by FERC or other agencies. Additionally, proficiency in FERC dam safety regulatory process, including preparation of DSSMPs, DSSMRs, STIDs, and participation in Part 12 D dam safety inspections, would be beneficial.
