Job Opportunity for Dam Safety Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Dam Safety Engineer/Subject Matter Expert to join our team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in civil, structural, mechanical, geological, or geotechnical engineering.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in dam safety, hydropower, and related fields. They will be responsible for conducting inspections, analyses, evaluations, and designs, as well as preparing contract documents and cost estimates.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to quality and teamwork.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Support inspections and engineering assessments of existing dams and water retaining structures.
  • Conduct analyses, evaluations, and designs, developing design options or recommendations with supporting calculations.
  • Prepare contract documents, including drawings, specifications, design documentation, and criteria, as well as cost estimates and critical reports for new and/or rehabilitation of hydraulic structures.
  • Perform engineering assignments that may require critical thinking and creativity to address unique elements with limited or no specific code-based guidance.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on various hydropower, pumped storage, and dam safety engineering projects.
  • Work independently as a project engineer and provide oversight, checking, QA/QC, and mentorship of staff as needed.
  • Participate in risk assessments for dams and hydraulic structures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • MS Office and MS Project experience is required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
