About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced First Nations Business Regional Manager to join our team at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. As a key representative of the Department and the Commonwealth government, you will play a major role in the face-to-face, front-line delivery of our national service offering, providing a tailored approach to the promotion, reach and success of our services for First Nations business throughout the designated State/Territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop quality referral pathways and support options for First Nations businesses.
  • Play a key role in promoting the government's First Nations business assistance programs and services across a broad network of stakeholders, ensuring wide and representative engagement.
  • Develop a strong understanding of business groups within the State and use this to identify gaps and needs that align with the Department's programs, or with those offered by state and local governments to benefit First Nations businesses and uptake of support opportunities.
  • Develop lasting stakeholder networks within the State and establish the capacity to influence across these networks based on a high level of credibility and a strong track record of support.
  • Manage a discretionary marketing budget and identify opportunities for the Department's participation in regional events, initiatives and projects, including events and projects, with the goal of raising the profile of the Department and its programs.
  • Undertake public presentations, formal representations and provide assistance to the Minister and department's Executive when in the State.
  • Develop and implement promotional strategies and work plans, and manage marketing and event activities within the region, including sponsorship development and management, and event planning, management and implementation.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of current First Nations business programs and maintain an awareness of emerging programs that may have relevance for First Nations businesses in the State.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and First Nations business profiles, as well as knowledge of issues impacting on industry and First Nations business within the State.
  • Provide a regional contact point for applicants to the Department's programs and assist them by providing advice and guidance in support of their engagement with the Department.
  • Identify opportunities to build connections and opportunities within the region through participation in local initiatives and committees, groups and taskforces.
  • Work with internal policy stakeholders to develop quality research, development and learning opportunities for First Nations businesses that enhance growth and resilience.
  • Act as a key source of business intelligence for the Department particularly relating to opportunities and challenges to First Nations businesses.
  • Prepare responses to ministerial requests including liaising with internal and external stakeholders and preparing briefs and ministerial correspondence.
  • Keep senior staff informed, escalating issues and proposing solutions on the basis of good judgment and an understanding of priorities.
  • Use Department CRM to regularly record business engagement, intelligence and case studies.
  • Collaborate with Regional Managers to develop regional plans and profiles which include First Nations business profiles, to support engagement with First Nations businesses.
  • Provide support, coaching and mentoring to Regional Managers in the work area, to assist in building and sustaining stronger relationships between Regional Managers and First Nations businesses across the country.
