Bridge Engineers play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and safety of Scotland's trunk road network. The position is responsible for assisting with investigation, design, planning, procurement, and construction management of bridge maintenance works.Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing detailed bridge maintenance schemes that meet technical standards
  • Preparing reports, investigations, feasibility studies, and assessments to inform project decisions
  • Collaborating with internal teams and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Supporting commercial teams with tender evaluations and contract awards to ensure best value
  • Procurement, supervision, and measurement of maintenance works to maintain high-quality results
  • Working closely with environmental specialists to ensure environmental screening and mitigation measures are in place
  • Maintaining accurate records of structure data and as-built records using management systems
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Experience in civil engineering design with a strong understanding of relevant technical standards
  • Professional qualification or working towards membership of a relevant professional body
  • Valid UK driving license for business use

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of health and safety, environmental, and commercial aspects of schemes, and be professionally qualified or working towards such qualifications.
