Principal Planner Role

We are seeking a Principal Planner to join our team in Wollongong or Sydney offices. This role will contribute to business goals by providing professional planning and resource management advice in both statutory and strategic planning.

  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, and also work independently as a Principal Planner on their own projects.

Our team works on a range of land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects across New South Wales. The successful candidate will be developed in a professional and personal sense and will be provided with an opportunity to forge a challenging and rewarding career path.

Day-to-Day Tasks

  • Develop project plans and strategies for the completion of major projects including identification of business resource requirements.
  • Manage or assist with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients.
  • Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet or exceed client's expectations.
  • Lead and assist with the preparation of tender documentation.
  • Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Grow, develop and mentor junior staff.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis and report writing.
  • Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Interest in working on a broad variety of projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers and clients.
  • Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development.
  • Drive and passion to solve problems and produce innovative solutions.
