About the Role of Principal Planner

The NSW Planning team is seeking a skilled professional to join their Wollongong or Sydney offices on a permanent basis.

As a key contributor, you will provide expert advice in planning and resource management, contributing to multi-disciplinary project teams and working independently as a Principal Planner.

Day-to-day tasks will involve:

  • Developing high-quality plans and strategies for major projects, including identification of business requirements.
  • Managing or assisting with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions.
  • Leading technical reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure it meets client expectations.
  • Preparing tender documentation and fostering client relationships.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
  • Self-motivation and self-direction.
