Urban Planning Lead

Role Overview:

As a seasoned Urban Planner, you will lead multi-disciplinary project teams and work independently on projects. This role involves providing expert planning and resource management advice in both statutory and strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high-level proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing, as well as comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams with expertise in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing
  • Act as project manager with planning, programming, and coordination of projects to ensure project outputs meet or exceed agreed goals
  • Develop project plans and strategies for the completion of major projects, including identification of business resource requirements
  • Manage or assist with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients
  • Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet or exceed client expectations
  • Lead and assist with the preparation of tender documentation
  • Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities
  • Grow, develop, and mentor junior staff

Qualifications Required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing
  • Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Interest in working on a broad variety of projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers, and clients
  • Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development
  • Drive and passion to solve problems and produce innovative solutions
