Research Assistant - Coastal and Regional Oceanography

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to support the Coastal and Regional Oceanography laboratory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and technical assistance, including:

  • Assisting in the operation of oceanographic field activities;
  • Setting up, testing, and downloading data from oceanographic instruments;
  • Traveling to and from mooring deployment locations, loading/unloading equipment from vehicles;
  • Assisting with the deployment and recovery of oceanographic instruments at sea;
  • Maintaining calibration and servicing registries;
  • Cleaning and maintaining mooring lines and floats;
  • Liaising with manufacturers regarding instrumentation purchasing, maintenance, and calibration;
  • Contributing to technical reports, presentations, and research publications as required.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Oceanography or a related field, or possess equivalent knowledge gained through education, training, or experience.

In addition, the successful applicant will be physically fit, able to handle heavy equipment, and have offshore experience in assisting with instrument deployments or similar boat-based field work.

This is a fixed-term position for 2.5 years, full-time (35 hours per week).
