Job Title: Team Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled team leader to join our urban planning team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership, mentoring, and professional advice in statutory and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of urban planners, ensuring correct staffing levels and resourcing of projects.
  • Maintain high engagement with team members and work with partner team leads across disciplines to achieve project outcomes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in urban research, data analysis, and report writing, as well as comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.
  • Act as project manager, leading planning, programming, and coordination of projects to ensure outputs meet or exceed agreed goals.
  • Develop project plans and strategies for completion of major projects, including identification of business resource requirements.
  • Manage preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation on behalf of clients.
  • Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure documentation meets client expectations.
  • Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Grow, develop, and mentor junior staff.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in consultancy environment or similar.
  • Proficiency in urban research, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Interest in working on broad variety of projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team, managers, and clients.
  • Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development.
  • Drive and passion to solve problems and produce innovative solutions.
