About the Role

The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Education to lead the Education team and provide strategic direction and leadership to the Research and Education Group.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, with a proven track record of leading and managing teams, developing and implementing education programs, and providing strategic advice to senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the strategic direction and daily operations of the Education team, ensuring effective and efficient operations, including administration, resource and financial management, staff management and development, recruitment and planning.
  • Influence and develop strategies, policies, priorities, operational practices and activities for the Research and Education Group in support of AIATSIS objectives and the AIATSIS Education Strategy.
  • Provide high-level written reports on the program strategic plans and operational activities, including statistical reports, briefs, submissions, agreements, and complex correspondence.
  • Represent AIATSIS at various network and stakeholder meetings, forums and conferences.
  • Overall management of specific projects, including related budgets and management of funding agreements.
  • Develop and manage team workplans, budget and reporting functions.
  • Engage, maintain and strengthen good relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
