As a key member of our senior leadership cohort, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the team, ensuring effective and efficient operations, and influencing and developing strategies, policies, and priorities for the Research and Education Group.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the strategic direction and daily operations of the Education team, including administration, resource and financial management, staff management and development, recruitment, and planning.
- Influence and develop strategies, policies, priorities, operational practices, and activities for the Research and Education Group in support of AIATSIS objectives and the AIATSIS Education Strategy.
- Provide high-level written reports on program strategic plans and operational activities, including statistical reports, briefs, submissions, agreements, and complex correspondence.
- Represent AIATSIS at various network and stakeholder meetings, forums, and conferences.
- Manage specific projects, including related budgets and funding agreements.
- Develop and manage team workplans, budget, and reporting functions.
- Engage, maintain, and strengthen good relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven culturally appropriate engagement and communications skills. The successful candidate will consistently demonstrate the following specific cultural capabilities:
- An understanding of the AIATSIS vision to create a world in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' knowledge and cultures are recognised, respected, celebrated, and valued.
- An informed, authentic, and respectful understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, including ethical research and policy matters related to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- The capability to incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' voices, experiences, and perspectives in all our work.
