We are seeking a skilled Pastry Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have excellent pastry production skills, including the ability to create high-quality desserts and pastries using best practice techniques and equipment.

Job Description:

As Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for maximizing guest satisfaction by providing exceptional quality and consistency in all pastry items produced. This includes preparing bread, cakes, biscuits, desserts, and pastry items according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare all pastry items for the hotel using best practice techniques and equipment as required
  2. Maintain awareness of new trends, ingredients, and techniques in pastry and use this knowledge to assist in creating new innovative menu items
  3. Assist in the supervision, training, and coaching of other chefs in the pastry section
  4. Ensure the section is organized and clean in accordance with hygiene standards
  5. Monitor food and operating costs by reducing waste
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate III in Pastry or equivalent qualification
  • Previous work experience in a similar position in a fast-paced, bulk production environment
  • Proven knowledge and experience in all operational and functional aspects of kitchen administration and operations
  • A local certificate in Food Handling, Hygiene, HACCP or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead subordinates and delegate tasks
  • The flexibility to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
