Remedial Design Engineer Role Overview

The Senior Remedial Design Engineer is a key professional responsible for investigating and rectifying remedial and structural building flaws in residential and commercial buildings. This expert will collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver comprehensive remedial design services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend client meetings, site inspections, and defect diagnosis sessions.
  • Develop, review, and check designs in accordance with relevant design standards and codes; prepare technical reports, building condition assessments, and defect reports.
  • Establish detailed project plans, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation; create scope of works documents, design drawings, tender, and contract documentation.
  • Prepare and submit tenders and proposals; oversee projects on-site and inspect remedial work.
  • Provide a thorough remedial design service to clients.
  • Nurture key client relationships, liaising with clients and contractors to support business growth.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently; prepare fee proposals and meeting minute documents.
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team; produce, review, and check designs and specifications in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and National Construction Codes under limited supervision.
  • Mentor junior team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' post-graduate remedial engineering consultancy experience or equivalent construction industry experience (including waterproofing and concrete repair).
  • Chartered Structural Engineer or nearing Chartered status.
  • Experience working in the strata and residential industry or on construction projects.
  • A self-motivated, technically strong, and capable individual who can work independently and lead a group of engineers and drafters.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective client relationships; excellent communication and report-writing skills.
