Job Description:

This role is focused on providing advocacy and making structured decisions on legal matters for adults with impaired capacity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking advocacy and timely supported and substituted decision making for adults with impaired decision-making capacity in various areas of law, including criminal law, mental health, child protection, domestic and family violence, and family law.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Legal Officer will also support other delegated officers to deliver timely, supported and substituted decision making for adults with impaired decision-making capacity.

Furthermore, the Legal Officer will ensure that clients are legally represented, and provide instructions to, and assist instructed legal representatives to support clients to receive the best possible outcomes as a result of their interactions with the justice and legal system.

Advocacy, negotiation, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation will be key aspects of this role.

Qualifications And Conditions:

Candidates must have a law degree from a recognised tertiary institution and be admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.

Mandatory Qualifications:

A C class driver's licence is required for this position.
